Set by a fortress from 1735, this waterfront hotel on Värmdö Island offers impressive views of Solöfjärden and the surrounding archipelago. We wanted a break from hard travel and are so glad we chose Fredriksborg. The rooms are very simple with a terrific outlook. The location is remarkable, on a hill above the deep water channel going in and out of Stockholm. The first time we saw a huge ship gliding by above eye level was a happy surprise. The dinner served at their restaurant was superb. But the best of all is the staff. They take great pride in the history of the location and its role in the defense of Stockholm in centuries past. Pontus (spelling ?) went out of his way to show us the property as well as to drive us to the ferry for the return to Stockholm. We were very appreciative.

Luonnon ympäröimä Marholmen sijaitsee Roslagenin saaristossa, 350 metrin päässä yksityiseltä rannalta. Hotellissa on ravintola. Superb surroundings and grounds. A shame we were only staying one night otherwise we could have explored more. Food excellent. As we were catching an early ferry the restaurant provided an excellent packed breakfast and hot drinks. Aamiainen oli ihan hyvä, huoneet todella siistit ja hyvät, rauhallinen sijainti ja hienot maisemat. Ei kuulunut mitään häiritsevää meteliä. Suosittelen kaikille tätä. Hinta laatusuhde todella kohdillaan.

Åtellet Hotell avattiin uudelleen huhtikuussa 2009. Se sijaitsee Norrtälje-joen suulla, kävelyetäisyydellä saaristosta ja merestä. Tukholman keskustaan pääsee kätevästi linja-autolla. Good breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms and nice stuff.
