Beautiful town with a lot of history embedded. Places one needs to visit include Penrith Castle, Brougham Castle, Long Meg and Daughters. The cafes and restaurants at Penrith are cute and exude that family vibe. Highly recommend to do a stop-over at Penrith.

we visited Penrith as a bit of nostalgia as we used to go frequently in the past. The town was very quiet although we found a very good restaurant, GRANTS, for a delicious evening meal. It used to be a bustling market town which seems to have lost its heart . Maybe internet shopping has affected the economy of the town as is the case in many towns. It is perhaps a useful place to stay to explore the surrounding area which remains beautiful.

We used The Station Hotel as a stop off for a day trip to Scotland and could have stayed longer in Penrith as we barely took a look around. We had some dramas and it is credit to staff and management that they were able to sort booking confusions quickly and professionally. Thanks folks.

Penrith as a great place to base yourself for a stay in the Lake District. It's quieter than the more popular and populous towns of Keswick and Windermere - except in March when it hosts the World Marmalade Festival and, according to Karen and Ali from Blue Swallow Guesthouse, the town is decorated with Paddington Bears and Honey Pots. They even boast having one of the champion marmalade makers stay with them on an annual basis.

Free parking and a bar on site were positives as was the central location.
The advert said that it was a larger than average room but including the bathroom it was no more than 13ft by 8 ft. There was no table or chairs so not a pleasant area to spend any time. The bottom of the outside of the shower had ingrained dirt.

Penrith town very nice and quaint!
Penrith town very nice and quaint! The locals were lovely - in the bars, hotel and on the streets.
We visited Coniston lake and enjoyed it. Very pretty. nice cafe and food. boat trip very good.
Went to see Arthur's Round Table! Delightful. Nice hotel for coffee opposite.
Lots of free parking and the apartments are in a very quiet, out of the way farmland. The place is extremely comfortable and when we had an issue with the dryer not working it was replaced within 24 hours. (great response time). We should have stayed longer as this place has everything that you need. There is a wonderful tiny pub about 3 minutes drive away that does great food (The Globe Inn is open most evenings). The location suited us as we were doing some ancestry research in and around the area between Penrith and Carlisle.
Welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. Comfortable spacious room with seats as well as beds (unlike YHA). Decent sprung mattresses without rubbery covers (again unlike YHA). Clean well-designed kitchen. Not far from town centre yet in a quiet area. Dry room and bike storage (even though I didn't need these on this occasion). Nice fluffy towels available to hire very cheaply if you don't have your own.
Really great B&B. Friendly welcome, lovely room, comfy bed, and terrific full English Breakfast.. free WiFi (that worked well) lots of sockets, lovely shower and well located in the town centre for pubs and restaurants.
This was a last minute panic booking, as my usual hotel was fully booked and I think I got a lower price than usual But would love to stay again next time I'm in Penrith even at full price.
Great restaurant/breakfast service
Recycling bins in room
Water fountains on floors of hotel to refill bottles
Had Decaf tea on offer
Swimming pool was good
Handy location off motorway and walking distance to Penrith
Clean and the rooms/general decor was nice
Fire pit outside with a Herb garden
WiFi was good enough for streaming catch up.
Welcoming friendly hotel in a tiny Cumbrian village. Lovely staff, especially the waitress that we spoke to (blond lady) in the restaurant, sorry I didn’t ask your name, but you were super lovely!! Great evening meal, especially the Salmon and Asparagus. Good breakfast and nice cosy room. Excellent value for money.
It was an unprecedented stay. Warm, cosy, cordial ambience. Breakfast was as expected and it was huge. A table top fan was provided that helped a lot in beating the summer. Room was nice & compact.
If I visit Penrith again, definitely will stay here again.
The hotel is a couple of miles outside Penrith in a lovely quiet village. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room had a good selection of teas and coffee and nice biscuits! We ate at the pub in the evening and it was very good, as was breakfast.
This was my second stay at Roundthorn, exceptional service, easy check in and friendly staff throughout.
I had dinner and breakfast the following day, both of excellent quality. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in the Penrith area
superb Hotel with great staff - comfortable and
in the centre of Penrith. Good menu both for
food and drinks - new cocktail bar is nice.
this hotel has character - quaint corners
to sit in / we will be back
It was a very easy walk into the city of Penrith and the room had 2 beds and a microwave and mini fridge. It was the perfect size for 1 person but I think 2 people would be tight.
Everything was perfect regarding this bed and breakfast. The room and bathroom was very well appointed. The breakfast was one if not the best we have ever had. Excellent!
Foundry 34 was very close to Penrith Town centre. Although not directly related to our stay in the hotel, the meal we had in the restaurant one evening was very good.
Excellent food. Considerate service. Good menu selection. Very hospitable staff. Beautiful location. Centre place of a lovely village close to Penrith.
